With the VSO Software-developed application PhotoDVD, you can create an animated slideshow and burn it onto a DVD. You will get to choose the images that will be presented, you will get to select the music that will play as the images are presented, and you will get to choose if you want to include comments or not. The best thing is that you can do all this with the greatest of ease.

To run PhotoDVD on your computer, it must meet the following system requirements: Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP or equivalent processor, 512MB of RAM for XP or 1GB of RAM for newer Windows editions, at least 4.3GB of free disk space, CD, DVD or Blu-Ray burner. PhotoDVD will run without any problems on a PC powered by Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

The steps you must go through to create a photo slideshow are presented at the top of PhotoDVD's interface. What you see beneath, on the application’s main pane, depends on the step you’re on. To be completely frank, the interface is user friendly and using the application is a very simple matter.

The first step in creating an animated slideshow with PhotoDVD is to select the photos you want to use and give your slideshow a name. Before you move on to the next step, use the “Fast preview” button to see how your slideshow will look and make any necessary changes. The next step is to set up a playlist that will play in the background while the slideshow runs. Step number 3 will ask you to pick an output format – then it’s time to move on to the final step, compiling the slideshow. The amount of time you have to wait depends on how many images you included and how powerful your PC is. When PhotoDVD is done compiling your project, it will present you with a “What do you want to do now” prompt. You can choose to start a new project, open the output folder, or close the application.

Please note that PhotoDVD is only free to try. Besides presenting a nag screen, the trial puts a watermark on the output. The trial is also limited to 100 pictures per slideshow.

Easily create stunning slideshows with PhotoDVD’s help.

Pros

The system requirements for running PhotoDVD are quite low. The simple interface takes you through the process of creating a slideshow one step at a time. Use your pictures and your music to create and burn slideshows; add comments if you want to. Multiple multimedia formats and many languages are supported.

Cons

The trial puts a watermark on the output; 100 images limitation; nag screen.
